BIG CATCH FOR SCHOOLBOY
181 b Eel Taken In Hutt River (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 12. Dean Farrow, a 12-year-old Petone schoolboy, had the catch of his young angler’s life at the week-end. He went with his parents and a friend to the banks of the Hutt river below the Owen bridge, dropped a carefullymounted cock-a-bully bait into the calm water and within minutes hooked four feet of writhing eel, weighing 181 b. Dean landed it with his trout rod in about 10 minutes. Drawn
from the water, its weight snapped the light cast. Today it hung on the clothesline at his home to be admired by school friends. From teeth to tail, the eel measures up to Dean’s shoulder.
