Formosa Trophy Held By Auckland (New Zeaiana Press Association) DUNEDIN,’ October 12.

Auckland retained the Formosa Trophy, awarded to the centre winning the most cups, at the annual Chinese “double tenths” sports tournament which concluded today. The cup pr-sented by Marshal Chiang Kai-shek for the winner of the men’s basketball tournament was won by Manawatu. which beat Wellington in the final by 38 goals to 31. In the womens’ indoor basketball final Auckland retained the title with a 23-7 win over Wellington. The men’s and ■women’s relays produced some exciting racing, especially the men’s final, in which Otago, after leading for most of the distance, faded’and Wellington and Canterbury fought out an exciting finish. Canterbury won narrowly. Franklin scored a 2-1 win over Wellington in the soccer. Auckland won the women’s relay from Otago, and in the table tennis Oamaru beat Otago. The men’s table tennis winner was Wellington, by one set.
