Driver Crushed By Crane

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 4. A 21-year-old driver leaped for his life, but was pinned beneath a large steam crane and killed instantly at Mount Maunganui at 12.15 p.m. on Saturday. He was Peter Francis Stuck, single, son of Mr and Mrs D. Stuck, of 7 Links avenue, Mount Maunganui. Mr Stuck, who was employed by a Te Puke logging contractor, was dumping logs on a cleared section between the Mount Maunganui wharf and the fertiliser plant when the accident occurred. The crane tipped as he began lifting a stack of logs.
