NAVAL WEDDING

American To Marry Local Girl A United States Navy petty officer and an Ashburton girl, who until last year was a petty officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy, will be married in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Christchurch, at 2 p.m. this afternoon. The bride is Miss Shirley Kermeen, daughter of Mr W. M. Kermeen and Mrs Kermeen, of Ashburton, and the groom, PettyOfficer Third Class Bernard M Hudson, of Wytheville. Virginia, is a bosun’s mate in the Navy. Petty Officer Hudson, who is 24, has been to New Zealand on every expedition during the last five years, and during the first operation helped in the construction of the bases at McMurdo Sound and Little America. Twenty-three-year-old Miss Kermeen was born in Cheviot, and during her three years’ service with the R.N.Z.N. was chief cook at naval hospitals and was second cook at Government House, Wellington. during the visit of the Queen Mother, to whom she was presented.
