STOCK SALE AT ST. ANDREWS
(From (Ju? Own Heporter) TIMARU, October 1. There was a marked difference in weight ana quality in the 90 head of tat cattle offered at yesterday's St. Andrews stock sale. The demand from butchers was keen, and, with outside competition, values held extra firn, to the ruling high rates. Store cattle and sheep were not offered in quotable numbers. Values were:— Prime heavy steers, £55 2s 6d to £69 2s 6d; prime steers, £47 2s 6d to £52 12s 6d; light steers, £37 2s 6d to £43 2s 6d. Prime heifers, £46 2s 6d to £5O 2s 6d: light to medium heifers, £33 2s 6d to £42 12s 6d. Prime cows, £3l 2s 6d to £35 2s 6d; light to medium cows, £26 2s 6d to £29 7s 6d.
