Dr. J. L. Rogers’s New Appointment

Dr. and Mrs J. L. Rogers, formerly of Christchurch, and their three sons, have recently moved to California, where Dr. Rogers has taken a position with Space Technology Laboratories.

For the last four years. Dr. Rogers has been working at the Bell Telephone Laboratories, New Jersey, on a new type of “magnetic memory” for computers. In his new position, he will be studying the feasibility of making

“memories” and other computer elements by using the properties of super-conducting metals. Dr. and Mrs Rogers (Willa Wadsworth) are both graduates of the University of Canterbury, where Dr. Rogers was on the staff of the physics department for several years. They lived for a time in Ottawa, where Dr. Rogers held a fellowship of the National Research Council of Canada. Dr. Rogers, who is a former pupil of Nelson College, is the son of Mrs E. H. Rogers, Durham street, Christchurch.
