“SEVEN” FREE TRADE AREA

“Operative By Next June” (N.Z. Press Association—CopvrtpM) STRASBOUG, September 16. The SwedlsJY Minister of Foreign Trade (Mr Gunnar Lange) today told Parliamentarians from 15 European countries th»t the “outer seven” free trade area should be operative by the end of next June. Mr Lange told the Council of Europe’s Consultative Assembly that senior Government officials from the seven Britain, Sweden, Norway. Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, and Portugal—were now in Stockholm drafting the convention for a European Free Trade Association.

“The association should be put into operation so that the first reduction of tariffs can take place by July 1, 1960.” he said.
