HYACINTH GROWING IN WAIMATE DISTRICT

(From Our Own Reporter)

WAIMATE, September 17. A plot of 12,000 hyacinths is in full bloom on Mr J. McClintock’s property at Waituna. This is one of Waimate’s flower farms which in season attracts many hundreds of visitors. This is the last year hyacinths will be cultivated on the property. Mr McClintock intends to devote more time to the production of shrubs.

While the display of hyacinths is at its best at present, Livingstone daisies are beginning to show colour on sunny afternoons. The daisies will be in full bloom during the first two weeks of October, when polyanthus also will be making a show. The polyanthus are later this year, Mr McClintock said yesterday.
