Bowls UNITED CLUB

The United Bowling Club has been reconstituted, after the voluntary liquidation of the United Tennia, Croquet and Bowling Club, and the bowling club will now function a» an independent club.

The inaugural meeting was presided over by Mr T. Wallace, president of the old club, and it was decided to apply for incorporation under the Incorporated Societies Act, and for affiliation with the New Zealand Bowling Association. All the members of the old club were elected members of the new club.

The secretary reported on a meeting of delegates of the bowling, tennis, and croquet clubs with the City Council reserves committee, where the matters of new lease and vision of the playing areas had been made final. Mr L. F. Casey, a member for 18 years, a former secretary and committeeman. was unanimously elected an honorary life member. Messrs J. Rutledge. John Brown, and F. J. Campbell, honorary life members, were re-elected, and the meeting decided to honour the status of paid life members to the bowling section of the former club. Officers elected were:—Patron. Mr John Brown; president. Mr T. Wallace; vice-president, Mr F. Morris: secretary, Mr L. B. Hasell; treasurer. Mr K. Samms; auditor, Mr W. Larcombe: coach. Mr J. O'Rourke: centre delegate, Mr L. B. Hasell; green supervisor, Mr T. Wallace; executive, Messrs E. Sinclair, I. Andrews, C. Barnes, J. O’Rourke, and officers ex officio: match committee, Messrs W. McStay, D. A. F. Smith, and S. Prankerd: garden committee, Messrs A. Dendle. H. Baird, E. Collins, and R. Nottingham; visiting committee, Messrs P. Schroeder. T. Wallace, and L, B. Hasell; social committee, Messrs D. A. F. Smith. A. Smith. C. Sinclair. K. Samms. and N. Biakeaway; publicity. Messrs F Morris and J. J. Staples; midweek organiser, Mr P. Schroeder; mid-week delegates. Messrs H. Killner and P. Schroeder; delegates to diggers’ tournament. Messrs C. Sinclair and C. James. Opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 10.
