Rugby Football

Sir,—The statements by Viviers are an insult to our players and our referees and our British way of life.—Yours, etc., MURRAY M. SMITH. September 16. 1959.

Sir, —In a letter printed on September 14 “Kiwi” says the Kiwis were the best soldiers id the world. Such absurd and boastful remarks could help to give New Zealand a bad name in the sporting world. Let it suffice that all decent Kiwi soldiers are of my opinion—that in the two world wars the soldiers of the British Empire, including all the Dominions, did their duty thoroughly and well. The question of the best did not arise in the minds of all good soldiers. —Yours, etc., AUSSIE. September 16, 1958.
