FENDALTON WOMEN BOWLERS
Club Plans To Have Own Green The inaugural meeting of the Fendalton Women’s Bowling Club was held recently in the Fendalton Bowling Club pavilion to discuss plans for the first all women’s bowling club to be formed in Christchurch, entirely separate from a men’s bowling club. A site has been chosen in Fendalton park and it is expected that the club will have its green ready for the 1960-61 season.
Fifty intending members were present. Mrs S. Snedden (president of . the Christchurch Women’s Bowling Centre) presided, assisted by Mrs B. T Stanley. Mrs L. Evans convened the meeting. The following officers were elected: president, Mrs L. Evans; vice-president. Mrs D. L. Grant, secretary, Mrs H. W. Rule; treasurer, Mrs Turner-Smith: committee, Mesdames P. Large A. Barker, F. C. Penfold, M Gardiner, and P. McGregor: auditor, Mr J. L. Barribail. Working groups were formed to raise finance for the club. It was decided that navy blue blazers and navy blue hat bands with silver lettering I would be worn by club members.
