Basketball Team At Auckland

Two Canterbury senior basketball teams will fly to Auckland on Saturday to take part in the Auckland Catholic basketball tournament. Sacred Heart has been competing in this tournament for the last three years and this year, another leading senior team, Technical, has been invited to take part. Sacred Heart will field the team which won the championship, captained by Bernice McAleer. Also playing will be the Canterbury defence, Eileen Back and Maureen Dwan and the forwards, Maureen Murray, Pauline Glubb, Norma Fahey and Pam Lawson. This team has developed a good combination and should do well at the tournament. Two of the Technical team, Pam Edmonds and Pat Dorward, are unable to travel and their places will be taken by Betty Rowe, one of the finest defence players in New Zealand, and the young New Zealand trial player, Colleen McMaster.
