NEW LIFE MEMBERS
Annual Meeting Election The Canterbury Cricket Association’s life members were increased from four to six at the annual meeting last evening with the election of Messrs E. E. Luttrell and C. G. Crawford. In moving the election of Mr Luttrell, Mr J. L. Kerr said that for the last 50 years Sam Luttrell had been a household name in Canterbury cricket circles. Mr Luttrell had' given outstanding service. He had served his club as a player and administrator, and in 1913-14 became secretary of the Canterbury association. He had managed various Canterbury teams. In 1936 he had been appointed secretary of the New Zealand Council, and had served it well since 'hen. He had given a first-class performance as an administrator, and Mr Kerr said he doubted if there was anyone in New Zealand with a better record. Mr Crawford had been associated with cricket for at least 40 years, said Mr D. A. Colville, who moved that Mr Crawford be elected a life member. In his time, Mr Crawford had been a great club man. and that was an essential, said Mr Colville. He had played for Canterbury and for New Zealand in Australia in 1925. Mr Crawfoid had joined the Canterbury association 20 years ago: he had been chairman of the management committee for three years, and then for three years had been the association's president It was an outstanding record of devoted service to the game, with a particular asset in his interest in coaching young players.
