Badminton ÜBER CUP MATCH
Australia And N.Z, To Meet
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 15. The Über Cup women's badminton match between Australia and New Zealand in the Australian and New Zealand zone of the world women's teams’ tournament will be played in Wellington on the evening of Saturday, September 26. New Zealand won the right to a second-round match when it beat Thailand in Dunedin last mqnth. The winner of the AustraliaNew Zealand match will travel to the United States to play in a zone final.
The Australian team (in playing order) is:—Mesdames M Russell, A. Pincott, J. Twining, J Bevan and Miss J. Smailes. The non-playing captain is Miss E. R Roberts. The Australian team will arrive in Christchurch on September 22 The New Zealand team is:— Singles. Miss S. Cox (Wellington), Mrs H. Robson (Auckland). Miss G Hopkinson (Canterbury); Doubles, Misses S. Cox and E Meyer (Wellington). Mesdames Robson and V Gow (Auckland): reserve, Miss G Tompkins (Wellington). Miss N. N. Fleming (Wellington is manageress. The New Zealand Badminton Federation announced these details this afternoon. Cream Cans.— The dairy section of Auckland Federated Farmers ' considers that the aluminiumalloy cream cans manufactured in Britain are superior in quality to those made in New Zealand After inspecting sample imported cans at their meeting yesterday the delegates agreed that the Government should be urged to grant import licences for them.—(P.A.)
