TRADE WASTES’ DISPOSAL
Board And Council To Meet
The disposal and treatment of trade wastes in the Woolston area will be discussed by representatives of the Christchurch Drainage Board and the City Council. The meeting was proposed by the council in June, but the board deferred the matter to enable its officers to assemble information required. Mr H. F. Page, the chief engineer (operations) reported that the problem of wastes from eight outfalls of five firms in the Woolston area had been examined. He suggested that it would be desirable for some indication to be given to industry on the quality of effluent required. He recommended that in the first instance any action to be taken should be discussed fully with the firms concerned with the object of having the work carried out with the co-operation of a firm rather than by direction if possible.
