N.Z. TECHNICAL TRAINING

Special Study In Australia (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, Sept. 15. Technical education in New Zealand may be expanded along Australian lines as a result of a special study by the New Zealand Minister of Education (Mr Skoglund). Mr Skoglund arrived in Sydney today aboard the liner Monterey to inspect technical education centres in all Australian States. He will confer with heads of education departments and tour universities and high schools.

Mr Skoglund told reporters the New Zealand Government was planning to build a technological institute near Auckland. A serious shortage of technicians in all branches of New Zealand industry made the institute' a “high priority,” he said. “New Zealand is anxious to get the advice and assistance of Australian leaders of technical education in planning this new venture.”
