U.S. GLOBEMASTER MOVEMENTS
Six Planes Expected In Six Days The United States Air Force Globemaster transport plane which arrived at Christchurch yesterday morning is the first of six similar planes due this week. The aircraft had 57 men aboard, including crew. The air force contingent based at Harewood for Antarctic supply dropping and aerial support operations now numbers 171, but the final total will be nearer 400 when all planes have arrived by the end of the month. Of the five more Globemasters due before Saturday two will be support planes bringing cargo. After crew rest they will return to the Donaldson Air Force Base in South Carolina. An aircraft due at Christchurch yesterday afternoon was delayed by mechanical difficulties according to air force headquarters in Christchurch, and is now expected to arrive this morning.
