British sources last night confirmed the statement by the United States Vice-President (Mr Nixon) that Russia had three moon rocket failures in the last two weeks before they fired their fourth shot, the “Daily Express” science writer, Chapman Fincher, reported. ‘ , The rockets 'are believed to have been fired from a site near the northern shore of the Caspian Sea, observable by NA.T.O. radar sets operating from Turkey. The newspaper said these disclosures meant: Tremendous political pressure was put on the Russian scientists to achieve a successful moon landing before the Khrush-chev-Eisenhower talks in Washington.
