DRAMA LEAGUE FESTIVAL
Canterbury Area Placed First
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 13.
There was never any doubt of the winner of the national finals of the British Drama League festival held in Wellington on Saturday.
This was Alan de 'Malmanche’s brilliant production of Arthur Miller's original one-act “View from the Bridge’’ played by the Christchurch and North Canterbury area. The three other plays Showed considerable merit. They were “Purification.’’ a poetic drama by Tennessee Williams, acted by the Phoenix Players from Otago, “Look Back in Anger” by the Hastings Group Theatre, and “A Sleep of Prisoners” by Christopher Fry, from the Bailey Academy Players of Auckland. The adjudicator was Mrs Nora Ratcliff.
