DRESS OF M.P.'s
No Admission To House (N.Z Press Association—Copyright) KUALA LUMPUR. Sept. 11. Six Socialist Front members of Parliament were today refused admittance to the House of Representatives for being improperly dressed. The house was meeting for the first time since the elections on August 19. The Socialist Front members were dressed in slacks and opennecked shirts. They came to the House to be sworn in. but were refused admittance by the Clerk.
At the entrance of the chamber. the Prime Minister (Tunku Abdul Rahman) said: “My advice to you is go back home and change. “That is a standing order of the formei House which we have adopted. I am afraid you cannot enter the House if you are not properly dressed,” he said. Tan Phock Kin. one of the Socialist Front members, said there were no standing orders until the House agreed to them, but the six members left and the swearing in of the remaining members began.
