NO CONTRABAND FOUND
Intensive Search Of Dutch Ship (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 13. In spite of intensive searches by Customs officers and police no sign of suspected contraband was found on board the Dutch luxury liner, Willem Ruys, or on persons leaving the ship. The vessel sailed on her return voyage to Rotterdam on Saturday afternoon. Customs officers and plainclothes policemen made a thorough, but fruitless, search of the ship on Friday afternoon after receiving information from the Australian Customs that a consignment of opium was hidden in the vessel For the remainder of her stay in Wellington a close watch was kept on the vessel, and persons leaving her were often searched or questioned. The Willem Ruys sailed a few minutes late on Saturday. Two passengers were believed to be missing, but they were later found aboard.
