MR J. V. MEECH, who has been appointed Secretary of Internal Affairs. Mr Meech, who is also Clerk of Writs, has been the assistant secretary since 1955 and he will take up his new duties on Monday. Mr Meech fills the vacancy created by the retirement at the end of last year of Sir Arthur Harper. Aged 52, Mr Meech joined the Internal Affairs Department as a cadet in 1921. (P.A.)
