ARREST MADE ON LINER

Man On Charge Of Assault

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. Police this afternoon boarded the trans-Tasman passenger liner Wanganella inside the Wellington heads and took a man into custody. Shortly before the vessel left Queen’s wharf for Sydney at 4.5 p.m. today, the Lower Hutt C. 1.8. received information that a man who .had been summoned to appear in the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on an assault case was on board. The police launch, with Lower Hutt C. 1.8. officers on board, chased the Wanganella down the harbour and came alongside the ship which had dropped 'anchor off Seatoun.

Two officers boarded the ship and took the man into custody He was taken to the cells at the Lower Hutt police station and will appear in Court on Tuesday.
