The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) will represent the Government at a reception to be given in Christchurch for Cardinal Agagianian on Tuesday evening.
Mr J. W. Rowe, senior lecturer in economics at Victoria University, returned from Austral:;, yesterday. He has been attending the annual conference of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement ot Science at Perth. Mr Rowe will address the Christchurch branch of the Economic Society on Monday on "Were Import Controls Really Necessary?”
Mr J. F. Hemphill, a senior administrative officer of the Australia and New Zealand Bank. Ltd.. Melbourne, is in Christchurch during a brief visit to New Zealand. He is accompanied by Mr G. H. Bridge, a district manager of the bank's New Zealand head office.
Mr D. P. Munro has been appointed secretary of the Retailers' Federation. He succeeds Mr R. F. Wilson, who has been appointed general secretary of the National Party. Mr E. R. Bird, a member of' the Dairy Products Marketing ; Commission, has been appointed I a member of the Dairy Products! Prices Authority for a term ex-! piring on July 31, 1961. He re-1 places Mr W. G. Macartney. j
