N.Z. Riders In 500 c.c. Race

'N.Z Press Association—Copijrtohtl (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) BERLIN, Aug. 31. Eric Hinton, of Australia, yesterday set the fastest lap time in the 500 c.c. class event of the international motor-cycling race on the Sachsenring, East Germany, the East German news agency A.D.N. reported. The race was won by the Rhodesian rider, Gary Hocking, who also set a new course record, doing 15 laps over 130.905 kilometres in 52min 15.8 sec, at an average speed of 150.352 kilometres an hour. Hinton was forced to retire when his Norton developed engine trouble after the ninth lap. The New Zealanders, John Hempieman and Peter Pawson. came third and fourth respectively in the 500 c.c. event. Hocking also won the 250 c.c. event.
