DRAUGHTSMENS INSTITUTE

Canterbury Branch Annual Meelin"

A draft bill to provide for registration of draughtsmen and members of other organisations had been finally approved by representatives of the interested bodies and it was hoped that it would be presented to Parliament in the near future, said the retiring chairman of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Institute of Draughtsmen (Mr W. D. Burney) at the annual meeting. The national executive had had discussions based on the proposed examination syllabus with the Council for Technical Education and with other education authorities. These would continue until study courses were arranged and an examination curriculum fixed.

An increase in branch membership during the year from 27 to 149 was reported by Mr Burney. National membership had risen to 900.

Officers elected were:—Branch chairman, Mr E. S. Friel; branch secretary-treasurer, Mr P. J. Brook; past chairman, Mr W. D. Burney; committee, Messrs A. H. McMaster, F. F. Dawson, G. R. Cooper, P. J. Brook, L. H. Hale, R. L. Stevens and J. A. Whitcombe; delegates to the Dominion council meeting in December, Messrs P. J. Brook and F. L. Kinvig.
