Laos
Sir, —No-one wishes to alarm Mr Wheeler though it would be nice to see him back in the fold. He has said North Vietman is prosperous, and now he says it isn’t. Which is it? He cannot have it both ways. What President Soekamo has to do with the subject is beyond compre-
hension—unless he is an accredited foreign correspondent of the world’s news agencies. If so he has not the by-line. He certainly talks too much and sees too li(tle. Again let us note the press coverage of his visit. Hanoi’s Gia Lam airport. Mr Ho: “The Vietnamese people feel as if they were • clasping in their arms 88 million heroic Indonesian people.” Mr Soekarno: “I promise you, in the name of the Indonesian people, to support your struggle.” Let’s ' get back to Laos. —Yours, etc.,
F. M. MAGUIRE. August 28, 1959.
