TEMUKA SALE

“The Press" Special Service TIMARU, August 25. There was a larger attendance than usual at yesterday’s Temuka ■sale held in ideal conditions. The demand in all sections was excellent

About 80 head of fat cattle came forward, ot improved quality, and these included 15 to 20 extra prime heavy Steers. Values were very firm on late rates.

There was another large yarding ot fat sheep, but with several outside buyers operating, tiie market improved by 10s a head. Theie was also a good offering of store sneeo. with an especially keen demand being shown for hoggets.

Several dairy cattie also met witn a keen sale.

A short yarding of pigs was insufficient tor local consumption, prices being 5s to 8s a head higher than last sale. Values were:—

Fat Cattle.—-Fat steers: Good £5B to £69 2s «d, medium £5O to £57 176 6d, light £32 2s fid to £49 17s fid. Helfers: Good £3B to £44 2s fid, medium £33 to £37 17s fid. light £27 2s fid to £32 17s. Fat cows: Good £35 to £3B 12s fid, medium £3O to £34, light £lB 2s 6d to £29 17s fid.

Fat Sheep.—Wethers (shorn) 50s to 65s Id; fat wethers (woolly), good <66 to 85s Id. medium 72s to 75s |i.d. light 67s to 71s lOd. Fat ewes (shorn) 30s to 43s Id: woolly, good 57s to :6s Id, light 45s Id to 495.

Store Sheep—Wether hoggets (woolly) 19s 6d to 475. Ewe hogee's < woolly) 29s to 80s. Ewes and lambs, all counted, 23<s to 27s 6a Full-mouth ewes 43s to 575, failing mouth ewes 20s to 41s, two-tooth ewes 60s to 735, two and four-tooth wethers (shorn) 21s to 30s.

Dairy Cows.—Springing cows £l5 to £33, heifers in profit £3O to £3B.

Pig*.— Weaners 48s to 87s, stores 95s to 108 s, porkers £7 10a to £8 15s. '
