ROAD DEATHS IN AUCKLAND

10 Pedestrians Killed This Year

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 20. The Auckland City Council's traffic department has increased patrols in an effort to halt the mounting pedestrian death roll. All 10 road deaths in the city this year have been pedestrians. Traffic officers were out on the street today with instructions to issue fewer warnings and bring more prosecutions against jaywalkers and motorists whose faults could lead to accidents. In addition to those killed 114 pedestrians have been injured this year.
