EXPERT ON CRIME

Nine-month Visit To N.Z.

“The Press" Special Service

AUCKLAND, August 20. An internationally-known criminologist, Professor Albert Morris, chairman of the department of sociology and anthropology at Boston University, will arrive in Auckland on Saturday. He will visit New Zealand for nine months at the invitation of the Justice Department. Professor Morris will study the treatment of adolescent offenders, said the Secretary of Justice (Mr S. T. Barnett). He will also act as adviser to the inter-depart-mental committee concerned with juvenile crime.

Another purpose of his visit will be to interpret aspects of criminal behaviour to the general public and specialised bodies such as the judiciary and the police.
