Air Services
Sir,—Reading the headlines in this morning’s issue regarding improved air services to the West Coast. I thought that at long last Christchurch is to have a West Coast service. But no, we must still fly to Rongotai first. West Coast air services are undoubtedly organised for the benefit of the North Island and no consideration has been given to South Island travellers. Excuses are made regarding air turbulence and that pressurised aircraft must be used, but aero club planes frequently cross the mountains and if they do it, so can D.C.3’s. It is time N.A.C. provided a better service for South Islanders.—Yours, etc., NOT PAROCHIAL. August 20, 1959.
