CAR PASSENGER KILLED
Mother Of Large Family

A Mataura woman was killed and her husband and a son injured when the car they were travelling in left the road and crashed into a pole at Maitland last night. The dead woman was:
Clare Marjorie Garron, aged 37, mother of a large family.
The accident occurred about 8.45 p.m. at a double bend in the road at Maitland. Rain was falling and visibility was bad at the time. Mrs Garron was a passenger in the back seat of the car with her husband, Robert George Garron, aged 41. The car was driven by their 16-year-old son, lan, and with him as a front seat passenger was the owner of the vehicle, Pareku ( 'a Akena. Both Mr Garron and his son were admitted to the Gore Public Hospital suffering from shock. At Mataura, the immediate task of caring for the younger children of the Garron family was undertaken by members of the women’s section of. the Returned Services Association.
