Racing PLANS FOR UP AND COMING

Start In Epsom At Sydney

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, August 17. The New Zealand galloper Up and Coming, a short-priced favourite for the Epsom, would be a definite starter in spite of plans to take him to the United States in November, his trainer, M. McCarten, said today. McCarten said he had no doubt Up and Coming would go to America, but not until after the Epsom Handicap. He said Up and Coming had Jone well since his grand win at Canterbury on Saturday. His next race would be the seven furlongs weight for age Warwick Stakes, on Saturday week.

McCarten said this would be Up and Coming's last run before the Epsom. Bookmakers have reduced Up and Coming’s Epsom price by a further one point and a half since Saturday. Several fielders said today they were not anxious to do any further business straight out.

Another New Zealand-owned fancy, Fountainhead, will not run in the Cambelltown Handicap on Saturday. His trainer, E. J. Fellows, said today he would give Fountainhead his next race at Warwick Farm on Saturday] week. Fountainhead will be entered | fqr the Warwick Stakes and the six furlongs Wallacia Handicap. It will be decided later in which race he will run. Fellows said Fountainhead was doing well. Spring plans for the New Zealand horse Supertax, second favourite for the Caulfield Cup and third favourite for the Melbourne Cup, will not be known for about a month. His trainer. Ivan Tucker, said today that he was not hurrying the horse. “Supertax has done pace work since his arrival at Rosehill, but | I have not yet decided about a ] race to start off his campaign,"! he said.

Lady Cortauld, the New Zealand mare which is second favourite to Up and Coming in the Epsom, will start in the Campbelltown Handicap. She will run in the Epsom and if she does well there is a good chance of her running in the Caulfield Cup.
