Radio Hoax About Boat Wreck

(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 16. The Invercargill police are trying to trace the source of a radio message—believed to be a hoaxreceived by Awarua Radio at 2.15 on Saturday morning which said that a Bluff fishing boat had been wrecked near the Auckland Islands. The message said the crew were safe, but did not name the boat. A check has shown that no Bluff fishing boat is in trouble.
