COMMERCIAL Sharp Rise In Woolston Tanneries Shares

XV oolston Tanneries shares rose sharply in business reported yesterday to the Christchurch Stock Exchange at 15s. Previous business was done on July 27 at 10s.

Other price movements in yesterday’s business were variable. New Zealand Breweries, New Zealand Insurance, Northern Steamship, 8.H.P., Cyclone Fence, M.C.P. and National Consolidated changed hands for higher prices. M.C.P., at 5s 3d, reached their highest price for the year.

Farrier-W aimak, Whakatane Board Mills, Woolworths & Woolworths, N.Z., were traded at lower prices. Of four parcels of Government stock traded, three showed slightly higher yields and one showed a lower yield than last week. The volume of business was about average, but was well spread through the quotation list.
