PARLIAMENT’S DIARY
Yesterday saw a great deal of detailed but unspectacular legislative work carried out by Parliament Nine bills were read a second time and were set down for the formality of being read a third time. There were: the Government Life Insurance Amendment Bill, the Occupational Therapy Amendment Bill, the Land Transfer Amendment Bill, the Property Law Amendment Bill, the Marriage Amendment Bill, the Industrial Conciliation . and Arbitration Amendment Bill, the Shops and Offices Amendment Bill, the Immigration Restriction Amendment Bill, and the Atomic Energy Amendment Bill.
This left only nine bills on the main Order Paper. Four other measures were introduced and read a first time. They were: the Land Settlement Promotion Bill, the Shipping and Seamen’s Amendment Bill, the Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Bill, and the Fire Services Amendment Bill. Other business included five written questions making 16 already on the books for discussion next Wednesday. The house rose at 10.30 p.m. until 9.30 am. today.
