HIGH STANDARD OF LIVING

Italian Impressed By N.Z.

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 12. “What has impressed me most, apart from the natural beauty of the country and its rich colouring, has been the obviously high living standard of the New Zealand people,” said Dr. F. de Gaspens, of the Sovieta Nazionale Delle Officine di Savigliano, of Turin, Italy, before leaving Wellington today for Wairakei to inspect the geothermal plant. “I have always been impressed by the high standard of living in the Scandinavian countries,” he added, “but I think here you have something even more admirable.”

The company to which Dr. De Gasperis is attached has supplied transformers and other electrical equipment to New Zealand valued at approximately £400,000, and he is here in the course of a world business trip.

He has already visited the South Island, and from Auckland he will return to Italy via Australia and Singapore/
