THEFT OF £692 ALLEGED
Woman On Trial At Auckland i New Zealnna Press Association I AUCKLAND, July 27. Thefts over a period of eight months and amounting to £692 were alleged in the Supreme Court at Auckland today against Patricia Dawn Repia, aged 21. married, of Pukekohe. Repia pleaded not guilty to 14 charges of committing theft by fraudulently omitting to account as a servant. The trial is before Mr Justice Boys and a jury. The Crown alleges that the thefts were carried out between November, 1957, and July, 1958, while the accused was employed by James Keity Gordon Howell, newsagent, of Pukekohe.
Mr Cleal for the Crown said that because of insufficient proof of a “blanket” charge covering alleged thefts of £667, he would offer no evidence concerning it. His Honour said he would direct the jury to acquit accused of the charge.
The trial will continue tomorrow.
