French Atom Weapons

(N.Z. Prens Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11 pm.) PARIS. July 27.

The French Prime Minister (Mr Michel Debre) was yesterday quoted as saying that the French Army will be equipped with atomic weapons “in some months’ time.”

This was a reference to France’s coming atom bomb test.

According to Mr Lucien Neuwirth, chairman of the Gaullist Parliamentary Party, Mr Debre said: “In a few months’ time when the French Army is equipped w ith atomic weapons, France will be a great modern nation.”
