WAIKATO DEFEATS NORTHLAND

Coronation Shield Challenge (New Zealana Press Association/ HAMILTON, July 26 Waikato retained the Coronation Shield by defeating Northland al Hamilton on Saturday by 17 points to 12. Waikato has held the shield for two years. D B. Clarke was in grand form and R. Fausett, who scored two tries, played a most impressive game for Waikato. Waikato scored first when D. B Clarke came into the backline and Fausett scored after a bright movement. Clarke failed to convert but he drew loud applause when a penalty taken on his own 10-yard mark was just outside the posts Clarke nut Waikato further ahead with a penally goal from the 25-yard mark and five minutes later he kicked another goal from 40 yards. Waikato's try was scored by McDonald Clarke converted At half-time the score was Waikato 14.
