TWO KILLED ON HIGHWAY

Head-on Collision Near Rotorua

An industrial chemist and his wife were killed in a head-on collision just south of Hnngi’s Track, 21 miles from Rotorua on the Rotorua-Whakatane highway at 7.35 p.m. on Saturday. They were:--- • , Lewis Gregory Neubauer, aged 43, of Kawerau, chief chemist in charge of the technical control department of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company. and Mrs Gwenda Emily Neubauer, aged 47. ' . The driver of the other car, David John Jenkins, aged 25, painter, of Edgecumbe, is dangerously ill in Rotorua Hospital. He suffered multiple injuries and is still unconscious. Dr. and Mrs Neubauer were returning home after attending a wedding in Rotorua. Mr Jenkins was on his way to Rotorua to play indoor basketball.

Pedestrian Fatally Injured

iNew Zeatana Press Association* AUCKLAND, July 19. A pedestrian who was injured when he was struck by a car at an intersection in Auckland on July 4, died in Auckland Hospital today. He was Gregor Watson, aged 66, of Epsom.

Fatally Injured By Fall From Car

(New Zeaiana Press Association) KAIKOHE, July 19. A woman died in Kawakawa Hospital tonight from head and internal injuries received when she fell from a car, in which she was a front-seat passenger, shortly after 1.30 a.m. today. She was Awhina Tomuri, aged 22, daughter of Mr and Mrs M T. Tomuri, of Kaikohe. The driver of the car, Aden Hui, aged 20, dairy-factory worker, of Kaikohe, received head injuries. The door of the car swung open when it swerved after running down a clay bank about a mile from Kaikohe.

Elderly Man Dies Of Injuries

(New Zeaiana Press Association) NELSON, July 19

An elderly man died in Nelson Hospital on Friday as the result of injuries received in a motor accident last Sunday. He was . William George Norgate, aged 76. of Songer street, Stoke. Mr Norgate was riding a cycle along the main Stoke-Richmond highway towards Richmond when he was involved in a collision with a car driven by Gary George Evans, apprentice painter, of 31 Edward street, Tahunanui. Mr Norgate suffered head injuries.
