WOMEN'S INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Southland Wins A Division JNeu> Zeaiana Press Association) WESTPORT. July 19. The South Island Women’s Indoor Basketball championships were concluded last night after a day-long session, which started at 9 a.m. and concluded at 11 p.m., in Westport. In the A division, Southland beat Otago in the final by 39-30, thus winning the title for the first time. Otago were the holders. In the B section, Otago B had a decisive win over Buller B by 43-15. The following are Saturday’s results:— M’d-Canterbury 40, Takaka 18: Southland 39, Nelson 28: Otago 39. West Coast 35: Nelson B 63, Canterbury B 31; Nelson 36, Buller 25; Otago B 40, Takaka 25; Marlborough 37. West Coast 5; Buller 37, Canterbury 33: Buller B 34, Nelson 26; Motueka 28, Mid-Canterbury 24.
