New Tanker To Be Launched
(Rec. 8.20 p.m.)'LONDON, July 3. A 15,000-ton motor tanker, now being built for the British Petroleuiji Company, Ltd., is to be named British Kiwi when she is launched on July 21.
The ship is under construction at Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, and will have a speed of about 14$ knots.
The launching ceremony will be performed by Mrs G. G. Gibbes Watson, wife of the chairman of British Petroleum (New Zealand) Ltd., and will be attended by New Zealand’s Acting High Commissioner in the United Kingdom (Mr G. R. Laking).
Barnes Wins.—The British Empire welterweight champion. George Barnes (Australia), gained a points decision over the Irishman Mike Leahy in a 12-round bout at Festival Hall, Brisbane last night.—Brisbane, July 4.
