CYCLIST FATALLY INJURED
Collision With Car In Blenheim Road
A cyclist was fatally injured in a collision with a car near the intersection of Blenheim road and Picton avenue about 7 o’clock last night. He was
Raymond Gordon Collins, aged 44, married, of 18 Sumner street, Spreydon. The collision occurred m Blenheim road, about 20 yards west of its intersection with Picton avenue. The car was driven by Keith William Wickins, of Greendale, No. 1 R.D., Christchurch.
Mr Collins was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by a St. John ambulance, but was found to be dead on arrival. An inquest will be opened this morning before the Christchurch Coroner (Mr E. B. E. Taylor).
BOY DROWNED IN ORARI RIVER
A child aged 19 months was drowned in a shallow pool in the Orari river bed late yesterday afternoon. He was:
Garry James Davies, son of Mr and Mrs G. W. Davies, of Ohape R.D., Geraldine. Mr and Mrs Davies were visiting Mr and Mrs C. Inglis, of Peel Forest, when the child was found to be missing about 4.50 p.m. A search was organised and the body was found about a quarter of a mile from the house. Artificial respiration was applied without result
An. inquest for identification will be opened at Geraldine today.
Cyclist Injured
A cyclist, Mr Nehi Twehi, of 359 Marine parade, New Brighton, suffered facial injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car at the corner of Pine avenue and Jervois street at 7.56 p.m. yesterday. He was taken by a St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital and admitted. His condition was reported late last evening as satisfactory.
