A witness in the Arbitration Court was today given the opportunity to say what he liked about P.A.Y.E., but he wm warned that bad language would be contempt of Court.

The witness wm Mr James Wattle, managing director of a canning firm. The President of the Court, Mr Justice Tyndall, said P.A.Y.E. seemed to have upset everybody. “Hasn’t it upset you?” he Mked Mr Wattle.

Mr Wattie: I’d like to .. . I don’t think I’d better. His Honour: This is your only chance. You have got privilege here. But I warn you, any bad language will be contempt.

Mr Wattie: Oh . . . well there are some things to this life. . . . His Honour: While you are saying it, you had better remember Mr Turnbull (secretary of the Public Service Association and one ef the advoeatee) Is here and represents the authors of it.
