O’Gorman and Bremford both represented their province in its first representative match against Canterbury on August 13, 1938. On that occasion Bremford won both his singles matches, playing in top position for South Canterbury. O’Gorman, playing fourth in a six-man team, won one singles match. The contest was drawn, 18 matches all.
