COMMERCIAL Widespread Gains On Active Sharemarket
Gains were spread over a wide range of shares on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. The list of transactions was one of the longest of the year, although disclosed turnover of 7375 shares and £3OO of company stock was not unusually high. Only Australian Consolidated Industries and Woolworths changed hands at lower prices. Gains were made by New Zealand Breweries, New Zealand Refrigerating, Canterbury Frozen Meat, Southland Frozen Meat, National Insurance, New Zealand Insurance, South British Insurance Guarantee Corporation, N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative ordinary and B preference, Bruce Woollen, Timaru Woollens, old and new, Bearing Services, Bing Harris A, 8.H.P., Buntings, 1.C.1.A.N.Z., and Reid Murray.
