Brevet Club Proposal
Sir,—l an. a member of the Avonhead Residents' Association and also of the Brevet Club. No notification was received by me of the meeting held on Sunday evming, June 28, to discuss the objections to the Brevet Club's memorial hall. Should not all residents be requested to attend such an important meeting?— Yours, etc., JET BOMBER. July 1. 1959. (“Assuming that ‘Jet Bomber’ is a n.ember of the Avonhead Residents’ Association, it would certainly be his right to receive notice of all general meetings of the association.” said the secretary of the association (Mr E. D. Kwok) yesterday “However, the original statement issued to the press made it quite clear that it was a special meeting of the executive. The opinion expressed was also that of the executive of the association.”]
Malayan Elections. The Malayan general elections will be held on August 19. it was officially announced yesterday. The Government Alliance Party will contest all 104 constituencies, while the Pan-Malayan Islamic Party, the chief opposition group, is expected to contest about two- . thirds of the seats.— Kuala Lum- < O ■
