its general manager, Mr H. has been sold direct to an Ameriw. by the company, two other North Island companies have sold a total of 5000 lambs through the same channel. ; “My company feels the success of this venttyre could open up the .whole of the United States market to New Zealand, lamb,” said Mr Pike. As part of his company’s policy of exploring overseas markets, Mr Pike visited the United States, Britain and Canada last year. One of the results of his visit was the successful chain store venture. <
“We did everything possible to meet American requirements,” said Mr Pike. “As a result of my talks in San Francisco, we did not send whole carcases to the store because we wanted to do away with what the Americans call ‘slow-moving cuts.’ Therefore, we partly prepared the carcases and those cuts were then packed separately and distributed through manufacturing sources.”
Mr Pike explained that his company’s policy was aimed at "relieving the pressure on the United Kingdom market and at the . same time earning dollars for New Zealand.”
