MINOR FIRES

Filters in a dust extraction plant at the Pioneer Metal Company’s works in Cumnor terrace were damaged when fire broke out yesterday morning. Units from the Central and Woolston stations of the Christchurch Fire Brigade were called at 10.29 a.m. and quickly had the fire under control.

Two units from the Central Station were called to a fire caused by a faulty fireplace at Mrs D. Riddel’s residence at 150 Peterborough street at 11.27 ajn. A mantelpiece and the back of the fireplace were damaged.
